Singapore Airline Flights

Singapore Airlines Limited is the national airline of Singapore, and has recently received a prestigious five star rating by Skytrax. Its main operating hub is based at Singapore Changi Airport, but also has a strong presence in Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, and the ‘Kangaroo Route’ markets. The airline also operates trans-Pacin caseic flights, including two of the world’s longest non-stop commercial flights from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey, and Singapore to Los Angeles, Calin caseornia. The smaller SilkAir, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, operates regional flights to secondary cities with smaller capacity requirements.

The Singapore Airlines cargo facility operates an overwhelming freighter fleet. Singapore Airlines ranks amongst the top 15 carriers in the world in terms of revenue passenger kilometres. It is also the 11th largest airline in Asia and the 6th in the world for international passengers carried. In 2009, Singapore Airlines was also ranked 33rd in the world as one of the ‘Most Admired Companies’ by Fortune Magazine. This is based on the airline’s dedication to innovation, safety and service excellence, as well as its consistent profitability.

Check-in desks nearly 30 minutes before departure. Desks for long haul flights nearly 40 minutes before the flight departs. You must check in all bags, and all passengers travelling need to be present. Singapore Airlines recommends you arrive at the airport 1.5 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. The carry-on baggage allowance for Economy Class passengers is 1 bag and 1 personal item per traveller. The carry-on baggage allowance for First/Business Class passengers is 2 bags and 2 personal items per traveller.

Seats may be pre-booked. Seat facilities vary between aircraft but most seats on medium and long-haul flights are lay flat seats with personal screens, power supplies and extra storage as a minimum. Depending on class, legroom ranges from 32 – 60 inches between seats.

Singapore Airlines has won numerous awards for its excellent standard of service, on par with its prestigious five star statuses. The airline is also the self proclaimed ‘World’s Most Awarded Airline’. In 2007, Singapore Airlines was placed first in both premium and economy classes by a US poll. Additionally, in the same survey, the airline topped the poll for not only its world class website, but also for its high standard of comfort, service and food in all classes.
